Hand made by a Crow NativeAmerican, from authentic Parfleche hide and brain tanned leather fringe.
Hand Painted Red, Brown, Green, Yellow Blue and Black Tippi Design.
Cylinder Measures 19" long and 7" across the opening.
The original Parfleche cases were used to carry and stor the sacred war bonnet, with it's delicate feathers and beadwork, would be carefully rolled to fit into case.
Parfleche was coined bthe French Fur-Trades Para (meaning defend) and Flech (meaning arrow). As the hide was tough enough to be used ae a shield and deflect arrows.This durable and strong container would keep the contents dry and protcted.
This Case is one of a kind and a special addition to Plains Indian collection.
