Cylinder Native American Parleche War Bonnet Case made from authentic Parfleche Hide and brain tanned leather lacing is one of a kind.
Hand Painted Red, Green, Blue and Yellow depicting a Chokecherry Design.
Case measures 22" long and 7 1/2" across opening
The original Parfleche cylinders cases were used to carry and store the sacred war bonnet, with it's delicate feathers and beadwork, would be carefully rolled to fit into the case.
Parfeche was coined by the French Fur-Trades. Parer (meaning defend) and Flech (meaning arrow). As the hide was tough enough to be used as a shield and deflects arrows. Durable and strong parfleche containers would keep the contents dry and protected.
