PENDLETON CHIEF JOSEPH BLANKET (AQUA)

First made in the 1920s, the Chief Joseph blanket is one of the oldest, on-going blankets made by Pendleton Woolen Mills. The blanket pattern celebrates the heroism of the Northwest's great Nez Perce leader, Chief Joseph. Its design is balanced with arrowheads symbolizing bravery and pointing in all directions of Mother Earth. The Chief Joseph is a woven jacquard that is reversible to offer two dramatically different looks. Design is vertical on king blanket. Felt bound. Napped. 82% pure virgin wool/18% cotton. Dry clean. Woven in our Northwest mills.

64" X 80"

When the U.S. government ordered the Nez Perce onto reservations in Idaho,Chief Joseph resisted, leading his band toward Canada. Considered a brilliantstrategist, he won many battles against great odds. In 1877 he surrendered to savehis people from a harsh winter with little food and no blankets. The Chief Josephdesign includes Native American symbols of strength and bravery, attributes of thisgreat chief whose courage and determination won him respect in times of peace and war.
